Introduction

Recrystallization annealing is applied to alloys with solid phase transformation (recrystallization) during equilibrium heating and cooling. The annealing temperature is a temperature above or within the phase transformation temperature range of each alloy. Heating and cooling are slow. Alloys undergo phase transformation and recrystallization during heating and cooling, so it is called recrystallization annealing, which is often referred to as annealing.

This annealing method is widely used in steel. The recrystallization annealing process of steel is: slowly heat to 30 ~ 50 ℃ above AC3 (hypoeutectoid steel) or AC1 (eutectoid steel or hypereutectoid steel) for an appropriate time, and then slowly cool down. Pearlite (or pre eutectoid ferrite or cementite) is transformed into austenite (first phase transformation recrystallization) during heating and the opposite second phase transformation recrystallization during cooling to form pearlite (or pre eutectoid ferrite or cementite) with fine grain, thick lamella and uniform structure.

The annealing temperature above AC3 (hypoeutectoid steel) causes complete recrystallization of the steel, which is called complete annealing. The annealing temperature between AC1 and AC3 (hypoeutectoid steel) or between AC1 and ACM (hypereutectoid steel) causes partial recrystallization of the steel, which is called incomplete annealing. The former is mainly used for castings, forgings and Weldments of hypoeutectoid steel to eliminate structural defects (such as widmanstatten structure, banded structure, etc.) and make the structure thinner and more uniform, so as to improve the plasticity and toughness of steel parts. The latter is mainly used for forging and rolling of medium carbon, high carbon steel and low alloy structural steel.

If the cooling rate of the forged and rolled piece is high after forging and rolling, the pearlite formed is fine and the hardness is high; If the temperature of stopping forging and rolling is too low, there is still a large internal stress in the steel. At this time, incomplete annealing can be used instead of complete annealing to recrystallize pearlite and refine grain, reduce hardness, eliminate internal stress and improve machinability. In addition, spheroidizing annealing of hypereutectoid steel with annealing temperature between AC1 and ACM is also incomplete annealing.
